BOSTON - The Boston University men's soccer team will take a trip down Interstate 90 on Saturday afternoon, as the Terriers visit Albany for an America East clash. First whistle is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Owning an 8-2-2 overall record in the all-time series dating back to 1999, BU defeated the Great Danes, 4-0, at Nickerson Field last season with seniors Michael Bustamante and Ben Berubeeach chipping in a goal.
The Terriers ((7-7-0, 3-1-0 AE) sit in second place in the America East with three games remaining on the regular season docket. BU has won its last two conference contests against Vermont and Stony Brook, the two teams that occupy the third and fourth spot in the standings. Albany (4-6-3, 0-1-3 AE) has yet to record a victory over an America East foe.
Senior Stephen Knox and Freshman Dominique Badji lead the Terriers on offense. Knox has found the back of the net four times for eight points, while Badji has contributed three goals and added a pair of assists to also have eight points. Fellow freshman Cameron Souri sits in third for BU in points with five. He has two strikes and a helper to reach that mark.
Freshman Nick Thomson, the reigning America East Rookie of the Week, has started 13 of 14 games this season. He has allowed just 10 goals to post a league-best 0.76 goals-against average and an .815 save percentage.
Albany is winless in its last seven games, though the Great Danes have earned a draw in their last three tries. Senior keeper Adrian Foncette has earned shutouts in his last two starts, both 0-0 ties.
On offense, junior Quintel Gatesl leads Albany with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Freshman Pomare Te Anau is second on the team in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists.
After playing the Great Danes, the Terriers will return to Nickerson Field to host New Hampshire on Senior Night (Wednesday, Oct. 26). Game time is set for 7 p.m.
