BOSTON - Beginning a three-meet homestand, the Boston University women's swimming & diving team rolled past Binghamton, 138-95, on Saturday afternoon at the Competition Pool.

The Terriers posted the top result in 12 of the 13 events but more importantly saw the return of senior diver Bailey O'Brien. Recipient of the 2011 ECAC Award of Valor, she took a break from the team last fall to begin undergoing cancer treatment for melanoma.

The Putnam Valley, N.Y., native learned that the cancer was in full remission during the summer and returned to campus in August to work on returning to the pool and completing her degree. She was able to compete in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

Sophomore Kendra Cheng led the Terriers with two individual victories and a relay win. She placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.49) and returned in the 100 free (52.34) for her second win of the day. In the 400 free relay, she anchored the team to a time of 3:33.95, three seconds faster than Binghamton's top squad.

Freshman Alexsa Savage raced in the second leg for BU after earlier winning the 200 back (2:07.62) by 1.23 seconds over senior Francesca Ferrante, Saturday's 200 IM (2:12.91) and 400 medley relay winner.

Ferrante opened the dual meet on the first leg with senior Kristen Connors, freshman Avery Visser and junior Liz Floyd all contributing in the victory. BU posted a time of 3:57.06, four seconds ahead of Binghamton.

Floyd also raced in BU's top 400 free relay team with junior Lauren Drake.

Junior Megan Happ was the other Terrier alongside Cheng to win two individual races, posting the best time in the 1,000 free (10:32.27) and 500 free (5:08.55).

In other races, Connors won the 200 breast (2:22.86), while Visser won the 200 fly (2:06.99). For the diving events, sophomore Chelsea Glincman posted the top score in the 3-meter (259.39), while junior Melinda Matyas won the 1-meter (249.22).

BU will return to the pool next Saturday (Nov. 5) to host Maine and Stony Brook with action set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
