TopDrawer Soccer Team of the Week
BOSTON - Senior Alice Binns of the No. 12 Boston University women's soccer team has been named to the TopDrawer Soccer Team of the Week, while classmates Lina Cords and Katherine Donnelly have earned Capital One Academic All-District Second Team honors.
An America East All-Conference Second Team honoree, Binns stopped four shots from Ivy League champion Harvard for the 3-0 victory to help BU earn its first NCAA win since 2005. The lone goalkeeper named to TopDrawer Soccer's team this week, Binns currently ranks third nationally with a 0.332 goals against average and fifth in save percentage at 0.897.
Cords earned her second Academic All-District I honor from CoSIDA. The America East Defender of the Year and Most Outstanding Player of the conference championship, earned All-Conference First Team honors for the third straight year. A senior captain, she leads a backline that has allowed just 11 goals in 22 games (0.50 gapg), including only one to conference foes, and has 14 shutouts on the year. Cords is a double-major in biology and economics with a 3.56 GPA. She's also a two-time America East All-Academic honoree.
Donnelly, an America East All-Conference First Team defender, has contributed to the Terriers' stellar defense, which ranks in the national top-20 in team goals-against average. An advertising major with a 3.56 GPA, Donnelly earned America East All-Academic honors for the first time this season and was on the Commissioner's Honor Roll last year. She also earned Patriot League All-Academic honors in 2009 while at Holy Cross.
Currently riding a school-record 14-game winning streak, the Terriers (19-2-1) will next play at top-seeded Wake Forest on Friday (Nov. 18) with action slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
