BOSTON - The reigning America East champion Boston University women's soccer team was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for maintaining a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, as it earned an NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 academic year.
To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible. The Terriers easily surpassed that requirement with an overall 3.32 team GPA.
Under 17th-year head coach Nancy Feldman, the program has traditionally been strong not only on the field, but also in the classroom. Five members of the 2011 squad earned America East All-Academic Team honors, including senior Jessica Luscinski.
A two-time America East Striker of the Year, she was named to the NSCAA Women's Scholar All-America Third Team last season and was also the conference's top Scholar-Athlete.
