BOSTON - Boston University men's basketball senior John Holland is one of 25 student-athletes selected to the Lou Henson All-America Team, announced Friday by CollegeInsider.com.

All players on the squad are eligible for the Lou Henson Player of the Year Award, given to the top "mid-major" player in Division I college basketball. The award is named in honor of the winningest coach in both New Mexico State and Illinois men's college basketball history and will be presented Friday, April 1, at the Final Four in Houston, Texas. When Henson retired from coaching in 2005, he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779.

After earning BU's fouth-ever America East Player of the Year award, Holland helped the Terriers claim the program's seventh NCAA berth. During the league's tournament, he averaged 20.0 ppg, 7.3 ppg and 1.7 spg over three games. In the title game, he recorded his 10th-career double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds.

Recognized as the championship's Most Outstanding Player, the 6-foot-5 wingman tallied 23 points alone in the second half. He cut a 15-point second half deficit to one with 14 straight points and later created a jump ball situation on the defensive end against Stony Brook with 30 seconds remaining. With the ball in his hands, he initiated contact driving to the basket and then drained two free throws just before the clock reached zero to help BU claim its sixth title, 56-54.

In the second round of the NCAA tournament against top-seeded Kansas, he tallied a game-high 19 points in front of a national audience on TBS.

Holland leaves behind an incredible legacy for the program, as he played a school-record 4,195 minutes wearing the scarlet and white. He is tied for first all-time at BU in steals (200), second in points (2,212) and sixth in rebounds (725).

He is just the second player ever in league history alongside Reggie Lewis to reach 2,000 points, 700 rebounds and 200 steals.
