BOSTON - Finishing the season with 10 points and helping the Terriers shut out six opponents, Boston University men's soccer senior midfielder Michael Bustamante earned a fourth All-Northeast Region award, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Monday.
Already the first in program history to receive four America East All-Conference First Team accolades, Bustamante becomes the fourth to be placed on an All-Region team on four occasions. He was named to the third team as a freshman and earned second team honors his final three seasons with the Terriers.
Sitting out last season due to injury, he returned for a fifth year and finished tied-for-second on the team with 10 points off three goals and four assists, including a helper on the golden goal at Stony Brook. With a total of 27 assists, he ends his collegiate career ranked ninth all-time at BU.
Bustamante also proved helpful on the defensive end, helping BU shut out then-No. 10 Boston College, 1-0. Other season highlights include a 1-1 draw at then-No. 3 Connecticut.
