
Women's Soccer Defeats NC State, 3-1

RALEIGH, N.C. - After being held scoreless in its previous three games, the Boston University women’s soccer team recorded three goals to defeat NC State, 3-1, Thursday night at Dail Soccer Field. With the victory, BU holds a 4-5-1 record while NC State drops to 5-6-0 on the season.
Junior Megan McGoldrick broke the scoreless affair with her first goal of the season in the 50th minute. NC State was whistled for a foul and BU was awarded a penalty kick, which McGoldrick took for the Terriers and found the back of the net to give BU a 1-0 lead.
The Wolfpack tied the game just over four minutes later when Jennie Krauser scored on a loose ball in front of the BU goal with assists from Caroline Gentry and Meagan Proper to tie the game in the 54th minute.
Sophomore Ana Cuffia scored the game-winning goal for the Terriers in the 66th minute when she received a cross in the box from classmate Kai Miller. Cuffia took the pass in front of the net and fired the ball past Wolfpack keeper Victoria Hopkns to give BU a 2-1 lead.
Junior Madison Clemens added a third tally for the Terriers with less than two minutes remaining in the match to seal the 3-1 victory for BU.
BU ended the game with a 16-8 shot advantage against NC State with the Terriers placing eight shots on net while the Wolfpack had five shots on goal. McGoldrick led BU with three shots on target and Clemens was second on the team with two shots on goal.
Junior Andrea Green made her 10th start in net for the Terriers and recorded two saves before being replaced by sophomore Alyssa Parisi at the half. In her first collegiate appearance, Parisi made two saves for BU.
BU returns to the field on Sunday (Sept. 23) for its first conference game against the season. The Terriers will host Albany at Nickerson Field with first kick scheduled for 2 p.m.
