BOSTON - Senior Kylie Strom of the Boston University women's soccer team has been named a Third Team Scholar All-America honoree as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Wednesday.
The first-time Scholar All-America selection joins Elizabeth Hoerner of Navy as the only two players to earn the honor from the Patriot League. Strom served as a tri-captain for the Terriers and helped guide the team to a 15-4-4 record, including BU's second trip to the second round of the NCAA tournament and the team's first-ever Patriot League Championship.
The Endicott, N.Y., native previously was named to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team after earning a spot on the Patriot League All-League Second Team. Strom started all 23 games at midfield for the Terriers and finished the season with seven points off a pair of goals and three assists. She dished out the assist for BU's game-winning goal against Harvard in the first round of the NCAA tournament to send the Terriers to the second round for the second time in school history.
Strom owns a 3.34 GPA as a business administration and management major. She is the fifth player under 2013 NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year Nancy Feldman to receive this honor and joins Emily Pallotta (2009), Jessica Luscinski (2010, 2011), Lina Cords (2011) and Jessica Morrow (2012) as BU's NSCAA Scholar All-Americans.
