Terriers Raise Funds for Cancer Research
October 28, 2014 | Women's Soccer
The annual Cancer Awareness Game for the Women's Soccer team was held last Wednesday night featuring two of the top teams in the Patriot League. The Terriers pulled out the victory against league-leading Colgate, 2-0.
Leading up to the game, members of the BU women's soccer team volunteered over 50 hours receiving donations around campus from the BU community. The team also raised funds by selling Pink Soccer Shirts which were worn during pre-game warm ups. Earlier in October the entire team volunteered at the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk helping with registration and cheering on participants as they finished.
Through the teams efforts, over $1,600 was raised for cancer research. The team chose four cancer research foundations to donate the proceeds. The American Cancer Society, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, and the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation all received a share of the funds.
