BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team wraps the regular season on Saturday afternoon when the Terriers (11-4-3, 5-1-2 PL) travel to Bucknell to take on the Bison (9-7-2, 4-3-1 PL) at noon. Both teams have clinched a spot in the conference tournament and are playing for seeding.
With a win on Saturday, regardless of any other team's outcome, the Terriers earn a bye to the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament, meaning they would earn a first- or second-seed. If first-place Colgate were to slip up and tie or lose to American on Saturday, BU would host the tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Bucknell is ranked fifth in the conference, the last team that has currently clinched a spot in the post season. The only way the Bison could move up to the fourth seed is if they beat BU and Army loses its match with Navy.
This is just the second time the Terriers have faced Bucknell, beating the Bison 1-0 in their first meeting last season. Erica Kosienski scored the game-winner in the second half to lead BU to victory and earn a share of the regular season title.
Kendall Ham has scored the most goals this season for Bucknell, netting five, including three game-winners, and assisting on two to lead the team with 12 points. Alexis Gannon and Brigit Falcon each have three goals on the season.
Jessie Ashworth has seen the most minutes in the net for the Bison this year and owns a 7-6-1 record which includes four shutouts. She has a 1.30 goals against average and .766 save percentage.
The Bison both average and allow 1.5 goals per game while the Terriers average 1.56 goals per game and allow just 0.67, which sets this up to be a close game.
Jenna Fisher leads the team in goals with seven so far this season including three game-winners while Taylor Krebs accounts for four goals and two game-winners, both of which were scored last week. In total, 10 Terriers have scored goals this season and eight have notched multiple scores.
Alyssa Parisi has been steadfast in goal, especially in conference play. She has an 8-3-2 overall record and a 5-1-1 conference record. In Patriot League contests she has allowed just three goals and made eight saves for a .727 save percentage--a low result owing to excellent Terrier defense that has allowed just 12 shots on goal through its conference schedule.
