Benediktsson Named PL Rookie of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After tallying an assist and helping the No. 24 Boston University men's soccer team post back-to-back shutouts, freshman Bjarki Benediktsson has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The award marks the second overall for Benediktsson this season and the first since the first week of the year. He played all 200 minutes in the backline to help the Terriers claim the top seed for the upcoming tournament with a 2-0 victory over Colgate and 0-0 draw against American.
In the contest against the Raiders, he placed a corner into the box for junior Jeroen Blugh to finish in what proved to be the game-winning goal. He also helped limit league-leading scorer Ethan Kutler to just two shots attempts, including one on net.
The Terriers will next conclude the regular season at Bucknell on Saturday (Nov. 8) with action set for 5:30 p.m.
