Wakefield Named PL Rookie of the Week
November 3, 2014 | Women's Soccer
A Terrier earned Patriot League Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week, this time with Christina Wakefield getting the nod for her performance in the 2-1 win at Bucknell last Saturday.
The East Longmeadow, Mass. native scored the eventual game-winning goal against the Bison, her second goal in three games. Wakefield has stepped into a center forward role after Erica Kosienski's season ended in injury and has excelled in her added duties on the pitch.
Senior centerback Kai Miller earned honorable mention by the league after scoring her second goal of the season - a career high. Miller scored the first goal of the game to give the Terriers an advantage late in the first half.
After clinching the No. 2 seed with the win against Bucknell, the Terriers earn a quarterfinal round bye and will head to Colgate for the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament on Friday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. BU will face the higher-seeded winner of the quarterfinal matchups.
