
Three Terriers Victorious at Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Boston University men’s track & field team began its outdoor season at the Hurricane Invitational this past weekend.
Three different Terriers were victorious, including two in field events. Sophomore Reuben Horace won the hammer throw with a toss of 58.06 meters while senior Manuel Pastrana claimed first in the javelin with a mark of 58.15 meters. Sophomore Michael Maloof took third in the hammer throw (51.10m), senior Connor Sullivan was fourth in the high jump (1.95m) and classmate Sam Arsenault was fifth in the long jump (6.91m).
Junior Ethan Knight finished fourth (45.79m) and Horace was fifth (45.48m) in the discus. Knight also placed third in the shout put with a mark of 15.26 meters. Junior Nikoalos Farmakidis (4.60m) and sophomores Fritz Howser (4.45m) and Brian Shaefer (4.15m) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault.
Senior Stephen Vitale was the third Terrier victor over the weekend as he finished first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.81 seconds and also secured sixth in the 110m hurdles (15.59). Freshman Justin Flynn finished sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.66 seconds. Sophomore David Lagerberg was fifth in the 400m dash with a time of 48.14 seconds and also took 10th in the 200m dash (21.49). The 4x100m relay team of Flynn, Lagerberg, Vitale and freshman Alastair Prenn finished third with a time of 41.73 seconds.
BU will have athletes at three different meets next weekend, as the Terriers take part in the Central Florida Relays, the Raleigh Relays and the Snowflake Classic.
