RALEIGH, N.C. - The Boston University men's track & field team competed at the Raleigh Relays this past weekend hosted by N.C. State at Paul Derr Track.
Sophomore Alec Olson won the 3,000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:08.06. He was over nine seconds faster than his previous-best mark. Classmate David Lagerberg took 10th in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 48.12 seconds. Freshman Matti Groll also had a 10th-place performance, as he posted a time of 3:56.71 in the collegiate 1,500m run.
Senior Stephen Vitale competed in the 110m hurdles (15.60), the 400m hurdles (53.70) and the 400m dash (49.61), while freshman Alastair Preen also ran the 400m dash (51.18). BU also had a time of 1:29.32 in the 4x200m relay.
Junior Stuart Ross (1:52.60) and freshman Ethan Homan (1:52.62) were 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 800m run invitational. Ross also competed in the 1,500m run (3:58.41). Sophomore Kevin Thomas had a time of 14:31.12 in the 5,000m run and junior Ben Ravetz finished the 1,500m run in 3:52.47.
In field events, sophomore Reuben Horace finished fifth in the hammer throw (58.94m), an event in which junior Michael Maloof (51.71m) also competed. Senior Manuel Pastrana placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 60.58 meters while classmate Blake Edwards had a mark of 6.54 meters in the long jump.
Senior Sam Arsenault was third in the collegiate long jump (6.82m) while Blake Edwards had a leap of 6.54 meters. Junior Ethan Knight had a toss of 45.09 meters in the discus and 14.89 meters in the shot put. Classmate Nikolaos Farmakidis was 10th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.60 meters.
BU will return to action next weekend as the Terriers compete at the Florida Relays and the Stanford Invitational.
