Terriers with Strong Showing at George Davis Invitational

LOWELL, Mass. – The Boston University men’s track & field team competed at the George Davis Invitational on Saturday hosted by UMass Lowell at the Cushing Field Complex.
BU combined for 15 top-10 finishes and three victories on Saturday. The Terriers were especially strong in field events, where they earned all three of their victories.
The Terriers took the top three spots in the long jump, with senior Sam Arsenault claiming first thanks to a leap of 6.96 meters. Seniors Blake Edwards (6.92m) and Nat Hinckley (6.70m) were second and third, respectively, while freshman Tyler Malone took eighth in that event. BU also shined in the hammer throw, with sophomore Reuben Horace (56.96m) and junior Michael Maloof (54.32m) claiming the top two places. Senior Manuel Pastrana joined Arsenault and Horace as victors with a first-place throw of 62.15 meters in the javelin.
Malone secured second in the triple jump with a mark of (13.79m), junior Ethan Knight was second in the shot put (15.82m) and senior Connor Sullivan was third in the high jump (1.95m). Sophomore Devon Lattrell placed sixth (51.44m) and freshman Sebastian Prieto Vasquez was ninth (31.22m) in the javelin. Prieto Vasquez took eighth in the 110m hurdles (17.12), with Hinckley (17.32) and Edwards (18.32) also competing in that event.
Junior Alex Civitano secured second in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:00.18. Junior John McKeon (4:08.03) and freshman Mike Ward (4:12.99) also competed in that event. Sophomore Paul Gennaro finished fifth in the 5,000m run with a mark of 15:25.74. Freshman Mitch Russo was eighth in that event with a time of 15:55.64 while sophomore Syian Srikumar (9:59.83) competed in the two-mile run.
BU will be back in action next week when the Terriers compete at the Holy Cross Decathlon (April 16-17) and the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT.
