
Peters Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals in 1,500m Run

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior Rich Peters of the Boston University men's track & field team advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals of the 1,500m run on Thursday night at the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Track and Field Preliminary Championships at the University of North Florida.
Peters placed eighth with a time of 3:46.69 in a highly-competitive heat; he was just .45 seconds behind the first-place finisher (3:46.24). The top five athletes in each heat, followed by the next four fastest times, advanced to the quarterfinals.
The Bristol, England, native will next race on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The top five finishers in each of the two heats plus the next two fastest times will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on June 11-14.
Two other Terriers will be in action on Friday, as sophomore Reuben Horace competes in the first round hammer throw (10 a.m.) and classmate Alec Olson races in the quarterfinals of the 3,000m steeplechase (8:50 p.m.)
