BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team plays host to Akron (2-3-0) and cross-town rival Northeastern (3-2-1) this weekend, first facing the Zips on Friday at 7 p.m. and then taking on the Huskies on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Nickerson Field.
The Terriers (4-2-0) ended their 11-game home win streak last weekend, dropping a 1-0 decision with San Francisco on Sunday afternoon. Prior to the loss, BU was 2-0-0 at Nickerson this season including a 2-1 victory over then-No. 19 Boston College on Aug. 24.
BU's back line has been exceptional in the last three contests, allowing just five shots on target in 270 minutes of play. Alyssa Parisi has started in goal in four games and has a 2-1-0 record this season. Bridget Conway started in net in the other two games and also has a record of 2-1-0, dropping her first decision of the year against San Francisco last weekend.
Friday marks just the second meeting between Akron and BU in program history, with the two squaring off for the first time last year, which ended in a 1-0 Terrier victory. The Zips won their last contest in a 3-1 decision at home against St. Bonaventure. On the road, Akron is 1-2-0, winning its only contest off its home turf against Robert Morris.
Boston University and Northeastern will meet for the 15th time on Sunday to continue a series which BU leads 11-2-1. The teams did not play each other last season but the Terriers have claimed victory in the last two contests with the Huskies, winning 2-0 in 2011 and 3-0 in 2012. Northeastern is 1-0-1 on the road this season and comes off a 4-0 win at Maine last Sunday.
