BOSTON- With the Patriot League Regular Season title in hand, the Boston University women's soccer team heads into its final game of the season at Navy on Saturday evening.
First kick is set for 5 p.m. and will be aired live on the Patriot League Network. While the Terriers have already clinched first place in the league and the right to host the PL Tournament, this game still has importance as a win by Navy would mean the Midshipmen would not have to face the Terriers again until the championship game, given that both teams make it to that point.
A WIN WOULD…
• Keep BU undefeated in Patriot League contests with an 8-0-1 record.
• Continue a three-game win streak against the Mids.
• Extend BU's overall four-game win streak to five games.
TERRIER TIDBITS
• The Terriers have allowed just two goals throughout league play and have shut out six conference opponents. BU is currently on a four-game shutout streak and has not allowed a goal in 386 minutes.
• McKenna Doyle had a four-point week last week and was rewarded with a PL Offensive Player of the Week nod. She leads the team with six goals and 15 points and scored two goals last week including the game-winner against Army West Point to clinch the Patriot League Regular Season Championship.
• Rachel Bloznalis earned her second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season after having a career week. The junior scored her first collegiate goal off a free kick against Holy Cross and collected an assist at Army. Two minutes after scoring her first career goal, she made a goal-line save to preserve the shutout streak.
• Goalkeeper Alyssa Parisi is on a shutout streak of five games and is also on an 11-game unbeaten streak dating back to Central Connecticut on Sept. 11 and has gone 9-0-2 and a perfect 6-0-0 on Nickerson Field in that span. The senior leads the conference with a 0.75 goals against average.
SCOUTING NAVY
• Navy has yet to score a goal against the Terriers in their four-game history. Their only win against BU, a 1-0 result in the 2013 regular season, came on a Terrier own-goal.
• The Midshipmen are currently in third place in the league and has clinched the right to host a Patriot League Quarterfinal game.
• Navy is led by Clare MacAdam on offense, who has scored a Patriot League leading 11 goals and 26 points so far this season.
• The Mids have played four different goalies this year but Dayton Wetherby has seen the most minutes by far, and has a 1.17 GAA and .811 save percentage this season.
• Despite MacAdam's prolific scoring, Navy has only managed to pull off three league wins this season and settled for four ties throughout conference play.
SERIES HISTORY
• The pair have a short history but the Terriers lead the all-time series, 3-1-0.
• Navy's only win came from a BU own-goal and the Mids have never scored against the Terriers since they first met in 2013.
NEXT TIME OUT
• With a bye in the quarterfinal round, the Terriers' next game will be on Nov. 7 in the Patriot League semifinal on Nickerson Field.
• While the opponent won't be determined until Tuesday night, BU will be playing in the 4 p.m. game, which airs live on the Patriot League Network.
