Doyle Nabs Rookie of the Week Nod
October 5, 2015 | Women's Soccer
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - McKenna Doyle of the Boston University women's soccer team tallied her first Patriot League award as the freshman earned Rookie of the Week recognition from the conference, the PL announced on Monday afternoon.
The win comes on the heels of the best offensive performance of her career, tallying two goals in a win against Loyola Maryland on Saturday. The team was perfect last week, going 2-0 against top-of-the-league opponents Colgate and Loyola to continue their unbeaten record in Patriot League play (3-0-1).
The Manhattan Beach, Calif. native started the Terriers off in the 34th minute when she headed in a free kick from Rachel Bloznalis to give BU a 1-0 advantage over the Greyhounds. Doyle followed it up early in the second half when her 20-yard strike bent top shelf on an extremely windy day off of a feed from classmate Julianna Chen.
The Terriers stay home for their final non-conference matchup of the regular season against Harvard on Tuesday night on Nickerson Field.
