HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Bridget Conway came out of the net to make a stop but failed to end the play, Alivya Wimmer made a defensive save to give the Terriers the ball back. BU took it coast-to-coast and immediately scored when Kelly Park sent one over the keeper's hands to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead midway through the first half.
- Hannah Wilcox and Erica Kosienski each took dangerous shots from the left side of the box in the ensuing seven minutes but the Crimson goalie got her hands on it each time, preventing the Terriers from gaining more of an advantage before halftime.
- The Crimson came out extremely fast in the second half and scored just three minutes into the period when Hannah Ciolek, who started the second half, came out to block a shot but ended up misjudging it and it bounced back into the net to tie the game at 1-1.
- Shannon Keefe got the Terriers back on top in the 64th minute, finding the ball in front of the net to send in BU's second goal off of set-piece service from Jesse Shreck.
- Harvard didn't take long to answer, however, netting the equalizer three minutes later to make it a 2-2 game in the 67th minute.
- The game required two overtime periods to reach completion and neither team was able to score throughout the final 20 minutes, leading to the tie.
GAME NOTES
- This is the team's first tie of the year and just the second time a game has required extra minutes. It also extends the team's unbeaten streak to five games.
- Alivya Wimmer made two defensive saves throughout the match and had an important slide tackle at the end of the second half to force an overtime period.
- The series remains tied, 7-7-6, all-time against the Crimson.
- Bridget Conway continues her shutout streak and hasn't allowed a goal since Bucknell on Sept. 18, five games ago. She made one save against the Crimson throughout the first half.
QUOTEABLE: HEAD COACH NANCY FELDMAN
- "We need these young players to step in and be confident in the minutes they get and take opportunities. The reason they're here is because they're great players"
- "It's a tough task to play a three-back defense when you're used to a four-back, it's a lot of ground to cover. All of the defenders, Libby Closson, Rachel Bloznalis and Alivya Wimmer, who came up with some goal-line saves, really helped us tonight. We saw a much more mature and confident team defensively tonight."
NEXT UP: LEHIGH
- BU resumes its conference schedule when the Terriers head to Lehigh on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game against the Mountain Hawks.
- The game is set to air on the Patriot League Network.
