Gilbert Earns Second PL Goalkeeper of the Week Honor
October 17, 2016 | Men's Soccer
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After leading the Boston University men's soccer team to its third shutout win of the season, senior Matt Gilbert has been named the Patriot League Corvias Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The Madison, N.J., native received his second nod this year by posting nine saves, one shy of his personal best, to preserve the 1-0 victory against Lafayette. The highlight came when he dove toward his right to stop the Leopards' penalty kick attempt in the 27th minute.
BU's win snapped a five-game winless streak (0-3-2). The Terriers (4-5-2) will next conclude the non-conference slate against Dartmouth on Tuesday (Oct. 18) at Nickerson Field with action set for 7 p.m.
