Terriers Hit the Road to Face Marist on Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y - The Boston University women's basketball team hits the road for one of its final two nonconference games of the season on Saturday, traveling to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York to take on the Red Foxes. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
The Terriers (1-8) are coming off a 61-49 setback against Dartmouth on Wednesday night at Case Gym. Junior Sophie Beaudry recorded her first career double-double in the loss while sophomore Naiyah Thompson scored a career-high 12 points. Thompson was terrific for the Terriers, going 6-of-8 from the floor for 12 points, eclipsing her previous career high of nine, which she achieved twice last season. She also added a career-best eight rebounds. For the fifth time in six games, BU held a lead after the first quarter but Dartmouth took over in the second quarter thanks to over 53 percent shooting, including a 3-of-5 performance from beyond the arc.
Though nine games, senior guard Sarah Hope leads the Terriers in scoring, averaging 10.2 ppg. Junior center Sophie Beaudry is second in the team in scoring with 8.8 ppg game and leads the team in both shooting percentage (.485) and rebounding (6.5 rpg). Junior Kara Sheftic and senior Meghan Green are tied for third on the team in scoring both averaging 7 points per game.
The Red Foxes are led by freshman guard Rebekah Hand who is averaging 15.2 point and 7.1 rebounds per game. Junior Allie Clement (12.3 ppg) and sophomore Maura Fitzpatrick (10.8 ppg) are second and third on the team in scoring respectively.
Saturday will be the 13th meeting between the two teams with the series tied at six wins apiece. The Red Foxes lost a close one last time out, losing to St. Peter's 73-69 to drop their record to 2-7.
After Saturday's game, BU will return home to play UMass Amherst on Wed., Dec 14 at Case Gym starting at 7 p.m.
