Lewisburg, Pa. - Highlighted by seven first-place finishes, the Boston University women's track & field team finished second at the 2016 Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships which concluded Saturday at Bucknell's Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
The Terriers finished the day with 161 points, runner-up to Patriot League Champion Bucknell (201.5 points) and ahead of third-place finisher Lehigh (148.50).
The Terriers were lead by senior Christy Wood who was a four-time winner on Saturday. She began her afternoon winning the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.89 and later won the 200m dash in 24.48 seconds. She helped the BU 4x100 relay team finish first with a time 46.80. In the last event of the day she helped the Terriers win the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:42.58. After the meet, Wood was named Patriot League Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet.
Junior Toria Levy also had an outstanding meet with two victories on the afternoon. She broke the Patriot League Championship meet record in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 54.41 and also won the 100m hurdles in 13.90 seconds.
Freshman Lovie Burleson concluded her weekend with a victory in the triple jump thanks to a personal-best leap of 12.26 meters. After the meet she was named PL Female Rookie of the Meet. Classmate Kennedy Jones secured second in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 12.24 meters
In the 100m hurdles, sophomore Tehya Noell (14.58) and senior Catherine Sampson (14.79) finished in fourth and sixth, respectively. Freshman Ebony Brown was fourth in the 100m dash (12.35) and fifth in the 200m dash (25.49), while Noell also took ninth in the 400m hurdles (1:04.17).
The 4x100m relay team of Wood, sophomore Maya Marshall, freshman Ebony Brown and junior Ally Saccone won with a time of 46.80 seconds. Saccone also secured second in the 100m hurdles (14.25) and fifth in the 100m dash (12.36).
Levy was joined in the top 10 of the 400m dash by junior Djenne Parris (56.88) in fifth and freshman Jordan Coverson (58.19) in ninth. Both of those times are personal bests. Coverson also took sixth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.53 seconds.
Three Terriers finished in the top five of the heptathlon, led by junior Christie Molloy in second with 4597 points. Sampson (4463) was third, followed by junior Adrienne Pascucci (4308) in fifth.
Senior Jade Paul finished fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:10.83, followed in sixth by freshman Courtney Breiner (2:12.67). Sophomore Paige Ferrucci turned in a time of 2:17.97 in that race.
Sophomore Gabrielle DiRenzo competed in the 1,500m run (4:50.69) while freshman Sarah Cicchetti posted a mark of 11.08 meters (36' 4.25") in the shot put.
In the final event of the day, the Terriers' 4x400 relay team of Jordan Coverson, Djenne Parris, Wood and Jade Paul finished first with a time 3:42.58.
The Terriers will next compete in the IC4A/New England Championships on May 13-15.Â
