PROVIDENCE—Despite a dominating performance on offense throughout most of the game, two goals late in the match put Providence College past the Boston University women's soccer team, 2-0 on Thursday night at Chapey Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Terriers found their footing midway through the first half and turned on the offensive pressure for the rest of the period. The closest BU got to scoring was on a well-executed transition to the attacking third that led to a shot by Jesse Shreck, which hit the crossbar but nearly bent into the goal.
BU kept the Friars scoreless when Hannah Ciolek made a crucial save midway through the first half, stopping an excellent attempt off of a free kick that would have hooked inside the left post were it not for a diving save.
Turning Point: 20 minutes into the second half, the Friars snuck their way to the top of the six-yard box and managed to score when Julianna Pellegrini rebounded a mis-shot ball while falling down that redirected it too quickly for Ciolek to make the stop.
Another goal came with seven minutes to go in the game when Pellegrini broke free from the Terrier defense to receive a pass on the goal line and tap it in on Ciolek's far side to take a 2-0 lead.

GAME NOTES

This is the first-ever win by the Friars in series history. BU falls to 5-1-0 against PC.
The Terriers outshot Providence College, 15-6 but the Friars had more attempts on net, 5-4.

NEXT UP: TERRIER TAILGATE VS. CINCINNATI

BU returns home for the annual Terrier Tailgate, which is set for Monday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. on Nickerson Field.
The Terriers will play the Cincinnati Bearcats for the first time in program history.
