Terriers Fall To No. 18 Virginia Tech, 3-0

BLACKSBURG, Va.—The Boston University women's soccer team put No. 18 Virginia Tech to the test with a strong performance in the midfield, but it ultimately wasn't enough to take the win, as the Terriers settled for a 3-0 result on Sunday afternoon at Thompson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just over eight minutes into the game, Virginia Tech's Megan Goudy sent a cross in front of the net and Alani Johnson headed it over the hands of Hannah Ciolek to give the Hokies a 1-0 lead.
- Ciolek came through with a series of saves, as a shot hit the cross bar and was then rebounded to the post where she made three consecutive stops before the defense could clear the ball and hold the Hokies to a one-goal lead.
- With just over a minute remaining in the first half, VT made it a two-goal lead off of a free kick.
- The Hokies scored again 10 minutes into the second half when Madi Conyers lost her defender and shot the ball far side to put the Hokies up, 3-0.
GAME NOTES
- This was the first-ever meeting between Virginia Tech and Boston University.
- The Hokies outshot the Terriers, 24-8. Both squads were awarded two corners.
NEXT UP: NORTHEASTERN
- The Terriers return home for a midweek matchup against crosstown rival Northeastern on Thursday.
- First kick is set for 7 p.m. on Nickerson Field.
