HOW IT HAPPENED
- Five minutes into the game, Dorrie Varley-Barrett took a shot that was tipped over the goalies fingertips but somehow it hit the crossbar, bounced straight down but did not fully cross the plane of the goal line and, despite being on the post and the doorstep, went down as an off-target shot.
- TURNING POINT: The Terriers found their first goal of the game in the 25th minute when Rachel Bloznalis earned a penalty kick and sent it low to the left post to give BU a 1-0 lead, its first of the season.
- BU maintained control of the game for the remaining 65 minutes, allowing just one total shot throughout the contest.
GAME NOTES
- The Terriers continue to lead all Division I schools with an active home conference unbeaten streak of 35 games.
- BU outshot American, 19-1 including 7-1 in shots on net, dominating possession throughout the entire game.
- The Terrier defense was at its best all season, allowing just one shot and just one corner.
QUOTEABLE: HEAD COACH NANCY FELDMAN
- "Playing a 90-minute soccer game, and you dont give them much of anything beyond three sniffs [on offense], that's pretty good."
- "It was our defending that set the tone for the game. There was an agressiveness to play at a high tempo while playing in control."
NEXT UP: COLGATE
- The Terriers stay home for a game against Colgate on Wednesday night.
- First kick is set for 7 p.m. on Nickerson Field and the game will be aired live on the Patriot League Network.
