BOSTON – Looking to maintain its first-place standing in the Patriot League, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Colgate on Wednesday with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.

The Terriers (10-8, 5-1 PL) suffered their first conference loss on Monday at Loyola (77-69), and the Raiders (4-15, 2-4 PL) fell at home to PL co-leader Bucknell, 83-69, this past Saturday.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers are an impressive 8-1 at home averaging 78.4 ppg and 47.7 FG% while holding opponents to 66.9 ppg and 38.6 FG%, respectively.
  • The 3-pointer has been a key weapon in the Terriers' success ... At home, BU is averaging 10 treys per game on 41.9 3FG% compared to 8.7 3-pointers and 31.6 3FG% on the road.
  • Since conference play started, senior Eric Fanning is averaging a team-high 15.0 ppg with junior Cedric Hankerson (12.0 ppg) and senior Justin Alston (11.3 ppg) close behind.
  • Last week in the 76-66 win over American, Fanning became the 35th Terrier to reach 1,000 points ... He followed up on Monday with his second double-double of the season on 27 points and 13 rebounds.
  • Fanning and Alston are averaging a combined 15.8 rpg in PL action to help BU outrebound opponents by +1.8 rpg.
  • Junior Nick Havener posted a season-high 15 points on Monday with eight rebounds to become the seventh Terrier this season to reach double figure scoring at least three times this season.
  • Sophomore Kyle Foreman ranks third in the PL in assists at 5.1 apg and is averaging a team-high 2.8 steals per game in conference play.
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders are 3-8 on the road with a 2-1 mark in conference play ... They claimed wins at Lafayette (85-75) and Army (79-76 OT) with the loss occurring at Navy (67-55).
  • Colgate shared one non-conference opponent, falling at Syracuse (83-55).
  • Colgate is shooting 43.9 percent for the season and a higher mark of 46.9 percent in conference play while holding PL opponents to 47.3 percent.
  • Nine Raiders have started at least two games with seven posting at least six starts ... Guard Sean O'Brien (12.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg) and forward Malcolm Regisford (7.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg) are the only two to start all 19 contests.
  • Forward Will Rayman leads the Raiders in scoring at 15.1 ppg and has increased that average to 18.2 ppg in conference play.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers lead the all-time series, 25-18, as the teams were previously members of the America East from 1979-1989.
  • They met for the first time in 2014 since Colgate left to join the PL with BU claiming a sweep en route to the Patriot League regular season title ... Colgate snapped a 20-game losing streak in the series with a sweep of its own in 2015 despite the Terriers owning double-digit leads in the first half of each contest.
  • Colgate extended its win streak to three games with an 85-78 win back on Jan. 20 ... Trailing, 44-38, with 17:19 left, the Raiders converted on back-to-back 3-point plays to go on a 24-6 run over the following six minutes ... The Raiders shot 58.3 percent from the field and hit 14-of-25 (.560) from behind the arc against a BU squad playing its second game in three days.
  • In the second go-round, Colgate kept up the 3-point barrage in the first half with seven treys for a 33-31 lead, but the Terriers clamped down in the second and shot 50 percent from the field to pull out a 71-68 victory.
