D'Anna Strikes Twice in 3-1 Win at Army West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Highlighted by two goals from freshman Austin D'Anna, the Boston University men's soccer team claimed a 3-1 victory at Army West Point on Wednesday night. Both freshman Toti Knutsson and junior T.J. Butzke earned a pair of assists as well, as the Terriers moved to .500 for the first time this season.

- The Terriers got on the board in the 22nd minute when sophomore Satchel Cortet fired in a rebound strike set up by freshman Elias Lampis, whose initial breakaway shot attempt was saved by the keeper.
- BU doubled its lead 11 minutes later by sending a cross to an open Knutsson on the right side of the field who then fed the ball into the box for D'Anna to tap in for the 2-0 advantage.
- The Black Knights avoided the shutout at 82:40 when Rex Epps collected a loose ball during scramble inside the box following a long free kick and shot past sophomore Michael Bernardi.
- Army was unable to keep the pressure on BU, as D'Anna scored again at 83:44 off a cross from Butzke, who was set up on the right side by Knutsson during the counter.
- Though the Terriers allowed their first road goal against PL opponents, they have won all four games by two goals apiece.
- D'Anna became the first Terrier to record a multi-goal performance this season.
- By becoming the second Terrier after Butzke (2x) to post two assists in a game this year, Knutsson grabbed the team lead in points at 11 (3g,5a) ... The two men are tied for the team lead in assists with five apiece.
- Both Bernardi and Army's Justin Stoll tallied two saves apiece, as the Black Knights finished with a 9-8 advantage in shot attempts and 3-1 lead in corner kicks.
- With the win, BU improved to 7-2-1 all-time against the Black Knights while also staying tied for first in the PL standings with Loyola Maryland, who owns the tiebreaker.
- The Terriers will conclude their two-game road trip at Bucknell on Saturday (Oct. 28) with a 1 p.m. start time.
- Bucknell leads the all-time series, 2-0-4, after eliminating the Terriers in penalty kick during last season's Patriot League quarterfinals at Nickerson Field.
- All six meetings between the two teams have gone to overtime.
