Terriers End Regular Season with 4-0 Loss to Colgate

BOSTON – Competing in its final game of the regular season, the Boston University men's soccer team fell to Colgate, 4-0, on Friday evening at Nickerson Field.
With the loss, the Terriers (7-8-3, 6-2-1 PL) will now have to await Saturday afternoon's Patriot League results (Loyola-Lafayette, Bucknell-Navy and Lehigh-Holy Cross) to learn their conference tournament seed and destination. They currently own a PL-high 19 points ahead of Loyola (18 pts.) and Lehigh (16 pts.) and can finish anywhere from first to third.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colgate quickly pressured the Terriers to start the game and got on the board at 3:31 when Christian Clarke pounced on a loose ball in the box for the 1-0 advantage.
- The Raiders doubled the lead at 21:50 when Steve DeLeo struck a low strike off Jared Stroud's cross and then added a third goal at 22:59 on Freddy Jonsson's blast that benefited from a redirection of the ball due to a deflection off a BU defender.
- They added the fourth goal early in the second half utilizing a pair of headers after sophomore keeper Michael Bernardi tried to swat away a corner kick.
- Jacob Harris posted seven saves, including two in the 49th minute during a scramble following a BU corner, to preserve the shutout.
- BU finished with a 15-11 advantage in shots and 7-5 lead in corner kicks.
- Freshman Peter Kargbo led BU with three shot attempts, while junior Josh Barkoff posted two on net.
- The Terriers allowed four goals in a conference game after holding the previous nine Patriot League opponents to three combined goals.
- Posting four goals for the second time this season following a 4-4 draw to Lehigh, Colgate became the first Patriot League opponent to score more than three goals in a game against the Terriers since they joined the conference in the summer of 2013.
- The Terriers will learn their destination on Saturday (Nov. 4) around 3 p.m.

- The No. 3 and 4 seeds will host a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday (Nov. 7).
- The quarterfinal winners will join the No. 2 seed at No. 1 seed's home facility for the Nov. 10 semifinals and Nov. 12 final.
