MIT Holds Off Men's Tennis, 5-2

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite winning the doubles point, the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision at MIT on Friday evening. In all six singles matches, the Terriers won at least six games with freshman J.P. Avila prevailing in a super tiebreaker.

- Ranked 19th in the NCAA D-III poll, the Engineers won the No. 3 doubles match against freshmen J.P. Avila and Marc Sable, but the Terriers were able to claim the point by winning a tiebreaker at lines 1 and 2.
- Senior Lucas Bombonatti and sophomore Satyajit Simhadri posted a 7-6(8) decision in the top slot, while seniors Mario Sandoval and Jake De Vries teamed for a 7-6(3) win at No. 2.
- In singles action, Sable rallied from a set down to force a third but came up just short at line 4 to Victor Cheng, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
- Avila also rallied at No. 6 and was able to win his super tiebreaker for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 victory.
- The Engineers won claimed the other four singes points in straight sets.
- The Terriers will next visit Brown on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.
