Winans Breaks Another Record at Day Two of PL Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Trevor Winans broke his second school record in as many days to lead the Terriers during the second day of the Patriot League Swimming & Diving Championships at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium.
Winans finished second in the 500 free with a time of 4:22.74, surpassing his previous school record of 4:25.51 that he set in 2016. On Wednesday he broke the school record in the 200 free during his leg of the 800 free relay.
BU maintained its hold of third place, finishing the night with 205.5 points. The Terriers are nearly 50 points clear of fourth-place Bucknell. Navy leads with 275 points, followed by Army West Point (246).
Three Terriers advanced to the 'A' final of the 1-meter diving event, with sophomore Cameron Schoffstall (261.65) and junior Eric Mitchell (260.55) finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Sophomore David Thiede took eighth with a score of 203.75.
In addition to Winans, junior Garrett Chin had a top-five performance thanks to a time of 1:48.49 in the final of the 200m IM, good for fifth. Classmate Quinn Smith finished eighth in that race (1:50.32).
Chin, Winans, Smith and senior Daniel Andronov closed the evening with a third-place performance in the 400 medley relay. The foursome combined to swim a time of 3:16.91.
The Terriers will head back into the pool on Friday for day three, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
