BOSTON – The Boston University women's soccer team held its annual awards banquet to celebrate the 2016 season Saturday evening at the Boston University Castle and Hillel House.
The first award of the night, The Alumni Association Most Improved Player Award, was given to junior Hannah Wilcox. After playing in six games as a sophomore, Wilcox saw action in 19 games this past season, and made her first career start at Bucknell in the Patriot League Championship game.

Next, Rachel Blauner received the Academic Achievement Award. A two-time team captain, Blauner received a Patriot League postgraduate scholarship after graduating Cum Laude with a degree in journalism in 2016. She is working towards her masters in broadcast journalism.

Freshman Kelly Park earned Rookie of the Years honors after leading all freshman on the team with 20 appearances and eight starts. Park scored three goals in Patriot League play, including two against Army West Point, and earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 24.

Erica Kosienski collected the Most Valuable Offensive Player Award after leading the Terriers with four assists and added in two goals. Kosienski caught fire down the stretch, tallying six points over the final five games. She also picked up the Strength and Conditioning Award for her efforts in the weight room.

The Most Valuable Defensive Player award was shared between Rachel Bloznalis and Alivya Wimmer. The duo guided the Terriers backline to post five shutouts on the season and limited conference opponents to just 3.33 shots on goal per game.

The Terrier Award, presented annually to the most valuable team member, went to Ellen Starnes.

The Community and Team Leadership Award was presented to Bridget Conway.

The Jean Kelleher Award, presented annually in memory of dear parent liaison and mother of former player Shauna Kelleher, was the final award of the night. This years award was presented to Alan Weinberger, who is retiring at the end of the academic year after a lifelong career in athletics at Boston University.
