May 8, 2017 | Men's Tennis
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After helping lead the Boston University men's tennis team to its third Patriot League semifinal appearance in four years, senior Lucas Bombonatti and sophomore Satyajit Simhadri have both received All-Conference honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The announcement marks the second time in three years under head coach Dejan Stankovic that BU had two players honored by the Patriot League.
A native of Houston, Texas, Bombonatti collected his first All-PL award by being named to the first team. This season, he moved up to the No. 1 spot for the Terriers after spending most of his junior campaign in the No. 3 slot and posted a 10-14 dual record. During the PL semifinals, he defeated Army West Point's eventual PL Player of the Year Michael Nguyen in straight sets after earning other impressive wins against Bryant, Lehigh, Villanova and Navy.
Placed on the second team, Simhadri spent most of the year at No. 3 singles before being elevated to No. 2 in April. He recorded five wins in the spring against Colgate, Bryant, Villanova, Sacred Heart and Southern New Hampshire. The Saratoga, California, native also teamed with Bombonatti for a 10-11 record at No. 1 doubles. The talented duo had highlight victories over Army's PL Doubles Team of the Year Michael Nguyen and Grant Riechmann, Villanova, Marist, Navy and Fairfield along the way.
