BU to Visit Holy Cross Sunday Afternoon in Turnpike Trophy Matchup

BOSTON – Riding a two-game win streak, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit in-state rival Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.
The contest is part of the annual Turnpike Trophy all-sports competition featuring the two schools. Following the conclusion of the fall sports, BU currently owns a 5-2 advantage over HC.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is currently tied for first in the Patriot League with Bucknell at 4-1, thanks to three straight home wins ... The Terriers have split their two road PL games and are 4-5 for the season on the road.
- The only Terrier to have started all 16 games, sophomore Tyler Scanlon (9.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg) has reached double figures in six straight contests and has claimed three double-doubles over the last four games ... During the six-game stretch, he's averaging 14.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg ... For the season, he leads BU in both assists (2.6 apg) and steals (1.5 spg).
- BU is 6-0 this season when four Terriers reach double figures in a game ... 11 total have hit the mark this season.
- Senior Cedric Hankerson (14.7 ppg) is averaging a team-high 19.0 ppg in PL play ... He is three points away from becoming the 17th Terrier to reach 1,200 points.
- Sophomore Max Mahoney (12.7 ppg) is averaging 15.6 ppg against conference opponents and ranks third in the PL at 61.4 FG%.
- Terriers rank 64th nationally in 3-point field-goal percentage (.381) ... Senior Will Goff leads the PL at 55.4 3FG% and is second on the team with 31 treys, just two behind Hankerson's total.
- The Crusaders are 3-3 at home compared to their 1-7 road mark ... Five of the Crusaders' losses this season have been by six points or less, including Thursday's 61-56 OT loss at Navy.
- HC has shared six opponents with the Terriers this season so far, claiming wins over Harvard (73-69), New Hampshire (62-58) and Loyola Maryland (64-57) ... BU went a combined 1-2 against those teams but did claim victories against Colgate and Lehigh, who both topped the Crusaders in conference play.
- Jehyve Floyd leads HC in scoring (10.8 ppg), rebounding (5.5 rpg) and blocks (1.1 bpg) ... Karl Charles is the second Crusader in double figures at 10.5 ppg and is also averaging a team-high 1.5 spg.
- Caleb Green (8.9 ppg) is playing a team-high 32.1 mpg and is dishing out a team-high 2.8 apg.
- HC ranks 340th nationally in scoring offense at 63.6 ppg and 137th in scoring defense (70.6 ppg) ... The Crusaders are also 90th in turnover margin (1.8).
- Holy Cross leads the all-time series, 53-18, in a rivalry that dates back to 1902-03.
- Since joining the Patriot League, however, BU is 6-2 against the Crusaders with a 3-1 mark on the road.
- In the last meeting at the Hart Center, Scanlon recorded a steal on the Crusaders' final possession to send the game to OT ... Down one with 2:04 remaining, both Hankerson and Scanlon hit back-to-back 3-pointers to grab the lead for good ... Scanlon had a career-high five 3-pointers and 19 points to earn Turnpike Trophy MVP accolades.
- In the first meeting at BU last season, down 45-42 with 14:48 remaining, the Terriers went on an 11-0 run over the next 3:30 to grab the lead for good ... The Crusaders pulled within three at 52 seconds on a converted 3-point play by Alexander, but the Terriers got a big offensive rebound following a missed layup and hit three straight free throws to help seal the victory ... Justin Alston ('17) was named Turnpike Trophy MVP with 13 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
- Following four years as a conference member, the Terriers have yet to meet HC in the Patriot League tournament ... The last time the two schools faced off in a conference tourney, BU claimed the 1983 ECAC North title against the Crusaders to reach the NCAAs for the first time since 1959.
