BOSTON – In a battle featuring the top two Patriot League preseason selections, the Boston University men's basketball team will host defending conference champion Bucknell on Sunday with the CBS Sports Network broadcast set to begin at 12 p.m.

The Terriers currently sit alone in second place after posting a 7-2 record through the first go-round of conference play, one game behind the Bison (8-1) and half game ahead of Colgate (7-3). BU handed Bucknell its lone defeat back on Jan. 2 in an 84-79 nail-biter to snap a seven-game losing streak to the Bison.

As part of the matchup, the Terriers will hold a special BU Trivia contest during halftime with $2,000 up for grabs. Click here for more information. The NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship trophy will also be on display for fans to take photos with.

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU is returning home following a successful two-game road trip featuring wins at Lafayette (75-72) and Navy (75-68).
The Terriers trailed by as many as 16 against the Leopards before rallying for the victory ... The deficit was their largest in a come-from-behind win in a PL contest, topping the previous deficit of 14 in a win against Loyola in 2016 ... BU's largest deficit in a win under head coach Joe Jones was 17 back in 2012 at Albany.
The Terriers are 4-4 at home with PL wins over Army West Point (90-82), Lehigh (92-81) and Colgate (72-58) ... They lost their last meeting to American, 69-58.
Senior Nick Havener (7.7 ppg) became the third Terrier to reach 20+ points this season with a career-high 21 points at Lafayette ... Freshmen Javante McCoy (8.5 ppg) and Walter Whyte (8.0 ppg) combined for 22 points and 16 rebounds in the game as well.
Senior Cedric Hankerson remains the leading scorer at 13.7 ppg and but has now missed two conference games due to injury (Lehigh, Lafayette).
Sophomore Tyler Scanlon (9.7 ppg) remains the team leader in rebounds (5.7 rpg), assists (2.7 apg) and steals (1.4 spg), while senior Will Goff (7.0 ppg) leads the Terriers in 3-point shooting at 52.1 3FG%.
Sophomore Max Mahoney (12.1 ppg) is shooting a team-high 57.0 FG% to help BU shoot 47.0 FG%, which is the 72nd best mark nationally ... The Terriers last ended a season above 47.0 FG% in 1993-94 (47.3).

SCOUTING BUCKNELL

The Bison are on a seven-game win streak and have won 10 of their last 11 contests ... Four of their last five games have been decided by double digits, including most recently back-to-back wins over Navy (87-67) and Holy Cross (77-56).
Bucknell is 7-7 on the road with key non-conference wins at Richmond (86-78) and Stony Brook (85-76) and hard-fought losses at Maryland (80-78), Monmouth (79-78) and VCU (85-79).
6-foot-7 forward and 2017 All-PL First Team member Zach Thomas is averaging a PL-high 21.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg with 2.3 apg.
Reigning PL Player & Defensive Player of the Year and 6-foot-10 center Nana Foulland averages 15.9 ppg and 6.8 rpg, while 5-foot-11 guard Stephen Brown averages 13.8 ppg and team-high 4.5 apg.
Bucknell ranks 47th nationally in scoring offense (80.6 ppg) and 278th in scoring defense (76.3 ppg) ... The Bison also rank 85th in FG% (.466).

SERIES HISTORY

Bucknell owns a 10-4 record against the Terriers in a series that dates back to 2005-06.
In BU's 84-79 win at Bucknell, the Terriers shot 9-of-10 FT in the final minute when ahead 75-72 ... Down 20-17, BU went on an 18-0 run with help of four steals and four 3FGs ... Goff finished with 17 pts., while Scanlon had 14 rebounds and 10 points for the double-double.
Besides shooting 49.1 percent for the game, the Terriers tallied a season-high 13 steals to help snap Bucknell's 15-game win streak, which was the seventh longest active mark in the NCAAs.
BU won its first home meeting in 2009 (63-53) but has lost last five since then ... BU's closest loss was in 2016 (74-71) in which Brown burned the Terriers with 21 points.
In the last meeting at Case Gym, Bucknell led 45-36 with 18:16 remaining before going on a 17-1 run to put the game away ... Foulland had 20 points and six blocks in the 86-66 victory.
