BOSTON – Coming off a successful two-game homestand, the Boston University men's soccer team will conclude the regular season on Friday night at defending Patriot League champion Colgate with a 6 p.m. start time.
Having clinched a spot in next week's tournament, the Terriers are currently fourth in the standings at 13 points, one behind No. 3 Colgate and two behind No. 2 Lehigh with Loyola having already claimed the top seed. American is fifth at 12 points. The top two seeds receive a bye, the No. 3-4 seeds earn the right to host their respective quarterfinal matchup.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU received three conference weekly honors for the second time this season on Monday with freshman Kari Petursson (Midfielder), senior David Riccio (Defender) and senior Mike Bernardi (Goalkeeper) all being honored.
- Riccio became the eighth Terrier to net a goal on Sunday against Bucknell, while senior Adam Wright became the fifth to score multiple goals this season.
- Petursson scored the game winner against Army in the 1-0 win and assisted in both goals against the Bison.
- Bernardi tallied a combined eight saves in the two victories and now owns a 0.771 save percentage and 1.27 goals against average.
- BU is 1-4-2 in road contests this season with a 1-0 victory at Holy Cross and draws to both four-time defending Ivy League champion Dartmouth (2-2) and Boston College (3-3).
- Following Sunday's win over Bucknell, the Terriers are now 1-2-3 in overtime games this season.
SCOUTING COLGATE
- Ranked as high as No. 13 nationally, Colgate had won three straight PL games with identical scores of 2-0 before falling this past Sunday at Navy, 1-0.
- The Raiders are 6-1-1 at home compared to their 2-3-4 road mark with a 2-1 win over then-No. 24 Vermont and 2-0 loss to No. 18 Cornell … The lone tie was a 0-0 draw against American.
- Oliver Harris owns a team-high seven points and is tied with Abdel Sanogo at three goals apiece.
- Kian Alberto is one of three Raiders with five points but has tallied of them with a team-high five assists.
- Jacob Harris has started every minute at net, posting a 0.826 save percentage and 0.66 goals against average with eight shutouts in 17 games.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the Raiders, 6-2-2, in a series that dates back to 1979 … The teams though had a break between 1986-2008.
- Colgate won the last two meetings, both held at Nickerson Field, with a 2-1 win in 2016 and 4-0 victory in 2017.
- The Terriers won both previous PL matchups in Hamilton, posting a 1-0 OT win in 2015 and 3-0 victory in 2013.
