"Emma has been a natural leader since her playing days at BU," stated Feldman. "Her coaching acumen and competency has steadily developed in the four years she has been an assistant coach at the Division I level. She has taken on added responsibilities, and with each additional task, proves proficient and worthy. Her influence on the current players, team environment and performance, and future direction of the program is distinct."
Recently concluding her third season on staff, Clark helped BU return to the top of the Patriot League, as the Terriers claimed their fourth Patriot League title and made their 14th NCAA Tournament appearance. BU finished with an 11-7-4 record, including an unbeaten mark in Patriot League play at 7-0-2.
Additionally, Clark was one of 16 college coaches named to the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Class in October, which recognizes 30 of the top coaches under the age of 30 at the youth, high school and collegiate levels.
"It is an honor to be promoted to associate head coach," remarked Clark. "I have learned so much from everybody I have worked with at BU over the past three years and am excited to continue to develop in the years to come. I owe a lot to Coach Feldman and the athletics department, and am looking forward to fulfilling this role."
Clark played in the midfield for the Terriers from 2010-2013, helping the team win two America East Championships in 2010 and 2011 and a Patriot League Championship in the program's first year in the conference in 2013. She was named to the NSCAA All-Region team and to the all-conference first team as a junior and senior and went to the NCAA Tournament three times.
After graduating from Boston University's College of Communication in 2014, Clark became a volunteer assistant coach at Maine before being promoted to an assistant coach prior to the 2015 season. While with the Black Bears, she helped guide the team to the America East Tournament semifinal round, coached a two-time America East Defender of the Year, an America East Rookie of the Year, an America East Goalkeeper of the year and 10 All-America East selections.
