TheĀ Boston University men's lacrosse team will begin a stretch of three straight road games on Saturday afternoon at Bucknell. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEAR
- BU held a 5-4 lead late in the second quarter, but Bucknell scored eight straight goals en route to a 12-6 victory last year at Nickerson Field.
- Jack Wilson led the Terriers with three goals and one assist for four points.
- Ryan Hilburn (1g, 1a) was the only other Terrier with at least two points.
- Joe Stucky went 11-for-21 at the faceoff X with four ground balls.
- The Terriers did go 14-of-15 on their clear attempts and outworked Bucknell on the ground, claming 21 ground balls to just 17 for the Bison.
SCOUTING THE BISON
- Bucknell improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League with a 12-4 victory at Holy Cross this past Saturday.
- Will Sands leads the Bison with 32 points thanks to a team-high 21 assists.
- The rest of the team has a combined 10 assists.
- Sands also has 11 goals, which ranks third behind Sean O'Brien (17) and Connor O'Hara (16).
- Matt Gilray leads Bucknell with 17 ground balls and also has four caused turnovers, two behind team leader Lukas Munoz (6 CT).
- Jarett Witzal is 61-of-134 at the faceoff X (.455) with 15 ground balls.
- Christian Klipstein has started all six games in the cage for the Bison.
- He owns a 10.22 goals-against average and a .481 save percentage.
- While he has started all six games, Kilpstein has only played the full 60 minutes just twice this season and has only three starts in which he has played in less than 35 minutes.
- Ben Clark has played in three games and owns a 7.61 goals-against average and a .586 save percentage in over 94 minutes of work.
WELCOME TO COLLEGE, CHRIS GRAY
- Freshman Chris Gray recorded the third five-point game of his brief collegiate career on Saturday against Colgate.
- Gray notched three goals and also added a pair of assists.
- He has tallied a point in his first seven collegiate contests.
- Gray is tied for second among all NCAA freshmen in both points (24) and assists (13), and he leads BU in both categories.
- He is tied for 15th overall in assists and 24th overall in points.
- Gray has recorded at least four points in four of his seven games.
FIFTY STRAIGHT FOR WILSON
- Senior Jack Wilson moved his point streak to 50 games with his goal on Saturday against Colgate.
- Wilson has only been held without a point once in his entire career.Ā
- In those 50Ā games, Wilson has tallied 83Ā goals and 51Ā assists for 134Ā points.
- Wilson has tallied 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points this year.
- Last season, Wilson set career highs in goals (29), assists (18) and points (47).
LENDING A HELPING HAND
- BU is tied for fourth in the nation and is second in the Patriot League in total assists.
- Ten Terriers have combined for 49 assists this season and 69 percent of their goals have been assisted.
- Their average of 7.0 assists per game ranks 16th in the country and third in the PL.
LIPTON LEADING THE WAY ON DEFENSE
- Senior Isaac Lipton led the Terriers with three caused turnovers against Colgate.
- He ranks 15th in the nation and fifth in the conference with 11 total caused turnovers this season.
- Prior to 2018, Lipton had tallied six caused turnovers in three seasons.
- The Cumberland, Maine, native has started all seven games at close defense this year, securing a career-high 19 ground balls in addition to his 11 caused turnovers.
