No. 20/19 Terriers to Host Lehigh in PL First Round on Tuesday Night

The No. 20/19 and third-seeded Boston University men's lacrosse team will host sixth-seeded Lehigh in the opening round of the 2026 Patriot League Tournament on Tuesday night at Nickerson Field. Opening faceoff on ESPN+ is set for 6 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets here.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers clinched a share of the 2026 Patriot League regular-season title after finishing tied atop the PL standings with Army West Point and Loyola Maryland, which earned the top two seeds in the conference tournament.
- BU ended the regular season with three straight wins, including an 18-12 victory at Holy Cross on Friday night.
- This is the ninth straight PL Tournament appearance for the Terriers.
- The Terriers have qualified for the semifinals in all but one of their previous eight tournament appearances and have advanced to the title game in two straight seasons and three of the last four years.
- Sophomore Madden Murphy was named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year and was one of seven Terriers to earn All-Patriot League honors.
- Murphy was one of a program-record and league-best five Terriers to earn First Team All-Patriot League accolades, joining junior midfielder Tyler Fox, senior defender Connor Kehm, sophomore midfielder Andrew Pape and sophomore attacker Timothy Shannehan.

- Shannehan is a two-time first-team selection while Pape and Kehm were second-team honorees a year ago.
- Murphy finished the season second in the PL and 18th in the NCAA with a .589 faceoff win percentage and was tied for the league lead with 162 faceoff wins.
- He enters the postseason with a league-best 6.33 ground balls per game, a mark good for 17th in the country.
- Shannehan enters the postseason as the nation's leader in points per game, averaging 5.46 points across his 12 starts this season.
- The first player in the NCAA with 30+ goals and 30+ assists this season, Shannehan has scored 34 goals and added 37 assists for 71 points, a point total that is tied for third in the NCAA.
- Shannehan is also fourth in the country and first in the PL in assists per game (2.85) after matching his career high with seven assists on Friday at Holy Cross.
- Senior Jimmy Kohr leads the Terriers with 37 goals and has found the back of the net in 29 straight games.
- BU leads the nation in opponent clear percentage (.726) and is second in the NCAA in both caused turnovers per game (12.23) and ground balls per game (38.23).
HISTORY WITH LEHIGH
- BU improved to 6-9 all-time against Lehigh with a 14-13 overtime win in Bethlehem on March 7.
- The Terriers have won two straight meetings against the Mountain Hawks.
- Tuesday will be the fifth playoff matchup between the two schools, with BU and Lehigh even at 2-2.
- Lehigh won the 2024 title game at Army and a 2019 semifinal at Loyola while the Terriers were victorious in a 2022 semifinal and a 2017 quarterfinal, both at Nickerson Field.
- The 2017 quarterfinal win was the Terriers' first-ever PL Tournament game.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
- Lehigh enters the postseason at 7-7 after earning a 14-12 win over Lafayette to close the regular season.
- PL Rookie of the Year Finn Morgan leads Lehigh with 45 goals and is second on the squad with 57 points behind First Team All-PL honoree Luke Breslin's 60 points (28g, 32a).
- First Team All-PL honoree Richard Checo leads Lehigh and is tied for third in the nation with 34 caused turnovers.
- Junior Connor Riley leads Lehigh with 75 ground balls and has won 48.6% of his faceoffs this season (134-of-276).
- Second Team All-PL selection Kasey Heath has started all 14 games in the cage, posting a .544 save percentage and an 11.03 goals-against average.
- If BU wins on Tuesday, the Terriers will travel to No. 1 seed Army West Point and faced second-seeded Loyola Maryland on Friday night.
