SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Four members of the Boston University men's lacrosse team earned All-New England honors, the NEILA announced on Wednesday.
Senior Connor Kehm, sophomore Madden Murphy and sophomore Timothy Shannehan secured first-team honors and junior Luke Davis was a second-team selection. Shannehan was also named player of the year.
Kehm enjoyed a career year as the anchor of the Terrier defense, totaling 33 caused turnovers and 59 ground balls this season, both of which are career highs. He is ranked fifth in the nation with 2.36 caused turnovers per game and also averaged 4.21 ground balls per game, which is eighth-best among the nation's long poles. Kehm notched at least one ground ball in all 14 starts. In his last seven games, Kehm averaged 3.57 ground balls per game and 2.71 caused turnovers per game. He became one of just four players since 2005 to have recorded 10+ ground balls and 5+ caused turnovers in the same game when he hit both those numbers in a Feb. 15 victory over Dartmouth. Kehm ended his four outstanding seasons at BU with 85 caused turnovers and 160 ground balls, which rank third and sixth all-time at BU, respectively.
Murphy, the 2026 Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year, is first in the PL and 15th in the NCAA with a .596 faceoff win percentage and won a league-best 183 faceoffs. He paces all PL players with 6.54 ground balls per game, a mark good for 16th in the country. Overall, Murphy won at least 10 faceoffs in 10 of his 13 appearances, including three 20-win efforts. One of those was a 20-for-27 outing at Lehigh in which he won the final two faceoffs of the game to help BU force overtime in the final seconds and score on the opening possession of overtime. He was 20-for-25 with 11 ground balls in an overtime win over Bucknell, went 17-of-28 with a career-high 13 ground balls against then-No. 3 Harvard, and also was 21-of-32 in the opening round of the PL Tournament against Lehigh.
Davis continued his excellent collegiate career by establishing himself as one of the top defensive midfielders in the region. In 14 games, Davis set new career highs with 26 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers in addition to scoring one goal and adding two assists for a career-best three points. He entered the NCAA Tournament ranked third in the nation (and first in the PL) among all SSDMs with 15 caused turnovers. Fourteen of his 26 ground balls came in the final four games of the season as he helped BU clinch a share of the Patriot League regular-season title. Davis notched a career-high five caused turnovers at Yale on Feb. 21 and had at least one caused turnover in nine contests, including each of the last three.
Shannehan is the nation's leader in points per game (5.43) and is also currently second in the country with 3.00 assists per game. No player in the Patriot League recorded more assists (37) or points (71) in the regular season than Shannehan, who was the first player in the NCAA (and the only Patriot League player) to reach 30+ goals and 30+ assists this season. He ended the year with 34 goals and 42 assists for 76 points, all of which were career highs.
