HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU quickly built a 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Forte and Kohr less than a minute apart, but the Crimson responded with three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead with 7:40 left in the first quarter.
- Kohr equalized with 6:21 on the clock but Logan Ip restored the Harvard advantage with 3:16 left in the frame.
- Kehm tied the game with 1:49 to play in the first quarter thanks to another strong ride by the Terriers. Styles forced a turnover and Lapina picked up a tough ground ball in traffic before quickly dishing it to Kehm, whose bouncer beat Graham Stevens (23 saves).
- Burns made it 5-4 just 1:59 into the second quarter, but Jack Speidell answered 57 seconds later to once again tie the score.
- The game remained level at 5-5 until Pape found Forte for a goal with 4:49 on the clock, allowing BU to take a one-goal lead into the locker room.
- Harvard started the third quarter with a lengthy defensive stand to keep the Terriers from doubling their lead.
- John Aurandt IV then tallied twice in less than a minute to give Harvard a 7-6 lead. The Crimson then added three more goals to push its lead to 10-6 midway through the frame.
- BU never quit, beginning with a Kohr goal in transition off a feed from Howard at 3:22.
- Lawrence then used a nifty dodge with less than a minute left in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 10-8.
- Pape scored with 12:53 left to make it 10-9 before Lawrence's no-look feed found Shannehan open at the crease for a man-up goal that evened things at 10-10.
- Harvard took advantage of an untimely turnover with 9:52 to go, as Speidell got the ball to a wide-open Nathan Cobery who was alone on Phillips for the go-ahead strike.
- Speidell then scored himself just 25 seconds later to make it 12-10.
- Pape cut the deficit to one with another man-up goal at 8:43 and then the Terriers won the ensuing faceoff, but Harvard forced a turnover and quickly scored to take a 13-11 lead.
- BU pulled Phillips out of the cage with less than a minute remaining in an effort to win the ball back, which allowed Aurandt IV to score into an open cage and create the 14-11 final.
