
Men's Lacrosse Clinches Share of PL Regular-Season Title with 18-12 Win at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, MASS. - Sophomore Timothy Shannehan notched seven points and classmate Tyler Fox scored a career-high five goals to help lead the Boston University men's lacrosse team to an 18-12 win at Holy Cross on Friday night at Kuzniewski Field.
BU (8-5, 6-2 PL) clinched a share of the Patriot League regular-season title with the victory over Holy Cross (6-8, 2-6 PL). The Terriers are the No. 3 seed and host sixth-seeded Lehigh on Tuesday night at Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 6 p.m., with the game to be streamed live on ESPN+. This is the third time BU has earned at least a share of the PL regular-season title, doing so in 2022 and 2023.
Shannehan totaled one goal and matched his career high with six assists. Senior Jimmy Kohr matched Fox's five points thanks to three goals and two assists. Senior Sam Burns, freshman Peyton Forte and sophomore Finn Lawrence all tallied two goals and one assist apiece. Senior Charlie Howard found the back of the net and sophomore Andrew Pape contributed an assist.
In a battle of the top two faceoff men in the Patriot League, sophomore Madden Murphy went 14-of-26 at the stripe, gathered seven ground balls and assisted on senior LSM Matt Freeman's highlight-reel goal. Junior SSDM Luke Davis also found the back of the net and added one caused turnover and one ground ball.
Senior Connor Kehm led the Terriers with four caused turnovers and also added a ground ball. Sophomore Mike Luce had one caused turnover and three ground balls, Freeman chipped in two ground balls and one caused turnover in addition to his goal and senior Charlie Huntley totaled two ground balls and one caused turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU jumped out to a 4-0 lead halfway through the first quarter, with Shannehan scoring one goal and assisting on two others in that run.
- Owen Tunney made it a 4-1 game with 5:02 left in the opening frame.
- Freeman immediately answered Tunney's tally with the goal of the night, as the junior long pole went BTB off a faceoff win from Murphy to push the Terrier lead to 5-1
- Jon-Luke Duley cut the deficit to 5-2 at 2:49, but Fox and Howard each scored to put BU ahead, 7-2, after 15 minutes.
- That's how the score stood until Kohr made it 8-2 midway through the second quarter.
- Holy Cross got back within five just 57 seconds later, but Forte and Fox each scored to extend the lead to 10-3.
- Tunney scored late in the first half to create a 10-4 score at halftime, but Fox and Lawrence opened the third quarter with goals to make it 12-4.
- Holy Cross scored four of the final five goals in the third quarter and then opened the fourth frame with a strike to make it a 13-9 game with 12:52 to go,
- Burns then tallied two straight goals to end the Holy Cross run.
- That sparked a 5-0 run, with Davis, Kohr and Fox making it an 18-9 game with 4:40 remaining in regulation.
- The Crusaders finished the game with three straight goals against the Terrier reserves
- Shannehan ended the regular season with 71 points on 34 goals and a team-high 37 assists.
- Kohr extended his goal-scoring streak to 29 games and currently leads the team with 37 goals.
- Kehm has notched 30 caused turnovers, which matches last year's career high.
- The Crusaders first goal of the night snapped graduate student Michael Allieri's streak of 65:39 without allowing a settled 6-on-6 goal.
- BU won 44 ground balls to just 26 for Holy Cross.
- The Terriers were 26-of-29 in the clearing game and forced the Crusaders into seven failed clears.
- Sophomore Daine Kostes went 3-for-4 at the faceoff X with two ground balls and freshman Mike Ramirez was 2-for-3 at the stripe with one ground ball.

- The Terriers are the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Lehigh on Tuesday night for a first-round game at Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 6 p.m., with the game to be streamed live on ESPN+.
- If BU wins, the Terriers will face second-seeded Loyola Maryland in a PL semifinal contest on Friday night at top-seeded Army West Point.
