LA JOLLA, Calif. – Playing its third match in three days, the Boston University men's tennis team fell at UC San Diego, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon.
Ranked 18th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, the Tritons won two of three doubles matches for the first point and then captured four singles points, including two in straight sets, to hold off the Terriers.

MATCH NOTES
- Freshmen Ethan Kolsky and Owen Lu teamed for a 6-2 win at line 3 in doubles, but UCSD posted an identical score at line 2.
- The Tritons captured the doubles point with a late break to edge freshman Pedro Gutierrez and junior Satyajit Simhadri, 7-5.
- UCSD's top two singles players entered the contest ranked nationally in the top 40 and prevailed in straight sets against Simhadri (6-4, 6-4) and Lu (6-3, 6-3).
- Freshman David Bogatin (#3) posted a 6-3, 6-3 win to put BU on the board, and classmate Ethan Kolsky triumphed at line 6 for the 7-5, 6-4 win.
- The Tritons prevented a BU rally by winning hard-fought three-set matches at line 4 (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) and 5 (4-6, 7-5, 7-5).
