CALGARY, Alta. - Sophomore Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was invited to Hockey Canada's National Women's Development Team selection camp, which will be hosted in Calgary, Aug. 4-12.
Schroeder is one of four goaltenders competing for a spot on the team that will face the United States in a three-game series in mid-August. She will participate in several practices and intrasquad games, as well as off-ice training, fitness testing, and classroom sessions. The camp will also feature Japan's national women's team and a select team of U SPORTS players. Following camp, a team will be selected to play for Canada's National Women's Development Team in a three-game series against the United States, set for Aug. 16-19.
A native of Elm Creek, Manitoba, Schroeder started all 25 games in which she appeared as a freshman last year. Schroeder posted a .913 save percentage and a 2.51 goals-against average last season en route to a 12-8-4 record. Schroeder was a Hockey East All-Rookie Team selection and had eight performances with 30-plus saves, including a career-high 42 stops in a 2-2 tie at New Hampshire on Oct. 29, her second career start.
