Terriers Prepped for Home-and-Home Series With Providence

BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team is set to face Providence in a home-and-home series this weekend. BU will host the Friars on Friday at Walter Brown Arena at 6 p.m. before heading to Providence on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tilt.

BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team is set to face Providence in a home-and-home series this weekend. BU will host the Friars on Friday at Walter Brown Arena at 6 p.m. before heading to Providence on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tilt.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU most recently dropped the weekend series against Boston College, losing 5-2 at BC on Thursday and 3-2 at Agganis Arena on Friday.
- Sophomores Kaileigh Quigg and Lola Reid scored at BC while seniors Clara Yuhn and Sydney Healey scored in the home contest.
- Reid's goal was her first of the season and came on the power play.
- Freshman Lucy Thiessen, Yuhn, junior Greta Henderson and senior Riley Walsh made assists on the road.
- Freshman Lexie Bertelsen led BU in points on Friday with two assists while junior Neely Nicholson and sophomore Keira Healey each recorded one.
- Graduate student Michelle Pasiechnyk made a combined 47 saves between the two games.
- Eleven Terriers have found the back of the net while 14 have made at least one assist.
- The Terriers' faceoff win percentage of 0.559 leads Hockey East and is eighth in the nation.
- BU's three shorthanded goals lead Hockey East and are second most in the NCAA.
- BU has recorded 40 or more shots on goal twice this year with 40 against New Hampshire on Oct. 24 and 45 at Boston College on Nov. 13.
- Senior Lilli Welcke leads the Terriers in faceoff wins with 152, which ranks second in Hockey East and 13th in the NCAA.
- S. Healey's two game-winning goals are second in the league and 14th nationally. She currently leads BU in points (11), goals (6) and assists (5).
- Yuhn is currently on a three-game points streak with two goals and one assist in three games.
- Senior Maeve Carey leads BU in blocks with 17.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
- Providence is 4-9-1 overall with a 2-3-1 record in Hockey East play.
- The Friars are 3-3-1 at home and 1-6-0 on the road.
- Providence is fresh off a pair of losses to Princeton, dropping 3-0 and 3-1 decisions to the Tigers.
- Providence's last win came against New Hampshire on Nov. 8, 5-1.
- The Friars' lone tie came against Maine, 1-1, before they won the shootout, 2-0.
- Providence's only road win came at No. 13 St. Thomas in overtime, 7-6.
- The Friars one additional ranked win which came in a 2-1 decision against No. 9 Clarkson.
- The Friars have not won back-to-back games this season.
- Netminder Hope Walinksi leads Hockey East in games played (14), goals against (42) and losses (9).
- Reichen Kirchmair leads Hockey East in goals (8) and is sixth in points (12).
SERIES HISTORY VS. PROVIDENCE
- BU is 35-20-6 all time against Providence with a 22-5-2 record at home and an 11-15-4 record on the road.
- Of the 22 home wins, 18 have come at Walter Brown Arena.
- In 2024-25, BU swept the series against Providence and did not give up more than two goals in any of the three games.
- The Terriers are on a four-game winning streak dating back to Dec. 9, 2023.
- The last time BU and Providence went to overtime was on Dec. 2, 2023, when Providence won the shootout after a 3-3 tie at Schneider Arena.
