Terriers Outlasted by Boston College, 3-2

BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team (2-10-0, 2-5-0 HE) dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to Boston College (7-6-1, 6-2-1 HE) on Friday evening at Agganis Arena.
Friday night's crowd of 3,965 set a home and Hockey East home attendance record. The previous record was set last season at Agganis Arena in front of a crowd of 2,866.
The three first goals were scored in the last four minutes of the opening frame. BC got on the board first with a short-handed goal before BU responded nearly 30 seconds later with a power-play goal of its own. The Eagles added a power-play goal with eight seconds to go in the frame to take a 2-1 lead that held until the third period.
BU tied the game, 2-2, with a power-play goal 5:44 into the final 20 minutes. That tie stood until 16:42, when BC scored the game-winner to defeat the Terriers, 3-2.
Seniors Sydney Healey and Clara Yuhn scored BU's goals. Freshman Lexie Bertelsen earned two assists while junior Neely Nicholson and sophomore Keira Healey each tabbed one. Graduate student Michelle Pasiechnyk made 29 saves in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- At 9:33 in the first, BC went to the box for hooking.
- BC cleared the penalty successfully, and, right as it expired, BU went to the box for hooking.
- The Eagles were called for tripping with 4:18 to play in the first.
- BC then won the puck at the blue line and raced down the ice to score, shorthanded, with 1:32 remaining on the penalty.
- Twenty-nine seconds later, BU responded when passes from Bertelsen and Nicholson found S. Healey, who tied the game with a power-play goal from the point.
- BU went to the box for tripping at 18:26 and BC found the back of the net with eight seconds left in the frame to take a 2-1 lead.
- With 11:05 to play in the second, BC was assessed a penalty for tripping.
- BU did not find the back of the net through the advantage.
- The Terriers went to the box for holding at 13:05.
- Fifty-seven seconds into the penalty kill, BC entered the box for slashing, resulting in 4-on-4 on the ice.
- With eight seconds left on BU's power play, it was called for too many skaters on the ice.
- The Terriers added another to the box for body checking at 17:30.
- Both penalties were successfully killed by the Terriers.
- BC was called for holding 1:43 into the third.
- With one second left on the penalty, BC was called for too many skaters on the ice.
- BU converted on just after the power play expired at 5:44 when Yuhn collected a net-front rebound to tie the game 2-2. She was assisted by K. Healey and Bertelsen.
- At the 16:42 mark, BC scored the go-ahead goal to take a 3-2 lead.
- BU pulled Pasiechnyk from the posts with 1:12 to play, but BC held on for the 3-2 win.
GAME NOTES
- BU narrowly outshot BC 33 to 32.
- BU was 1-for-6 on the power play while BC was 1-for-5.
- The Terriers won 33 faceoffs while BC won 13.
- The Eagles blocked 15 shots compared to BU's six.
