Senior Patrick Harper tallied two goals and an assist for the Terriers, who move to 1-1-2 on the year and 0-0-1 in league play.
BU scored the first three goals of the game before the home team rallied back to force overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Effective penalty kills by the Terriers led to the first two goals, which were both scored by Harper.
- Right as the first penalty of the game expired, junior David Farrance stole the puck in the BU zone before threading a pass through the neutral zone that set up Harper on a breakaway, which he converted 8:36 into the game.
- BU found itself shorthanded once again to start off the second period but Harper was the beneficiary of an errant pass and cashed in on a backhand just 14 ticks into the stanza to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
- Special teams pushed the BU advantage to 3-0 at 7:48 of the second as Farrance blasted a power-play shot past UML netminder Tyler Wall on assists from freshman Trevor Zegras and Harper.
- The River Hawks got on the board moments later and added another before the second intermission to get back into the game.
- Chase Blackmun provided the River Hawks' first goal just 24 seconds after Farrance's tally.
- A lucky bounce for Lowell in the slot led to their second goal as Kenny Hausinger put one in at the 15:58 mark.
- The home team completed the comeback early in the third as Seth Barton found the back of the net off assists from Lucas Condotta and Hausinger.
- BU had a third-period power-play chance but came up empty before having to kill back-to-back penalties late in the period.
- The best chance in overtime came on a UML breakaway by Carl Berglund but BU netminder Sam Tucker was up to the task, turning away the bid with the top of his blocker.
- Harper had his third multi-point game of the season and is now one of 10 players in the country averaging two points a game.
- BU outshot the River Hawks, 36-28.
- Tucker made 25 saves on the night to remain undefeated on the year at 1-0-2.
- Wall recorded 33 saves for the River Hawks.
- With an assist on Harper's first goal, Curry extended his point streak to eight games dating back to last year.
- The Terriers will play their first Hockey East home game of the season on Saturday (Oct. 26) when they host New Hampshire.
- Game time at Agganis Arena is set for 7 p.m.
