Senior captain Patrick Curry opened the scoring and added an empty-netter while freshman Robert Mastrosimone also found the back of the net for the Terriers, who improve to 2-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in Hockey East play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers scored once in each period en route to the shutout victory.
- Curry tipped in an offering by freshman Alex Vlasic just 5:45 into the contest with senior Patrick Harper also assisting on the play.
- BU doubled its lead midway through the second as freshman Case McCarthy intercepted a clearing attempt along the boards and flicked the puck towards the slot, where Mastrosimone lifted a UNH stick and pounced on the puck before quickly shooting in on goal and past UNH netminder Mike Robinson.
- UNH had its best chances in the third, putting 14 shots on goal in the period, but the Terrier defense and Tucker were up to the task.
- Curry sealed the victory with an empty-netter from the UNH blue line with just under two minutes left in regulation.
- Tucker is undefeated (2-0-2) in his first four starts as a Terrier.
- UNH held a 32-25 shot advantage and got a 22-save effort from Robinson.
- Sophomore Matthew Quercia and junior Kasper Kotkansalo assisted on Curry's empty-netter.
- Curry extended his point streak to nine games dating back to last season.
- There were only three penalties in the game as UNH went 0-for-2 on the power and the Terriers came up empty on their only chance.
- In addition to his earning his first collegiate point with an assist on Mastrosimone's goal, McCarthy also had a game-high six blocked shots.
- The Terriers will return to action next weekend when they travel north to face Maine for a weekend series.
- The opener takes place on Friday (Nov. 1) at 7:30 p.m.
