
Terriers Fall Late at Lafayette, 2-1

EASTON, Pa. – Wrapping up its season, the Boston University women's soccer team fell in heartbreaking fashion once again, 2-1, to Lafayette Saturday afternoon.
With time winding down, Shannon Keefe put the Terriers on the board in the 81st minute with her seventh career goal, poking in a perfect through ball from Julianna Stureman. However, Lafayette responded with the equalizer just under a minute later. Needing three points to secure a berth in the Patriot League Tournament, the Leopards struck with the game-winning goal in the 87th minute to clinch a spot in the postseason.
How It Happened

How It Happened
- Chloee Sagmoe nearly put the Terriers in the board in the 6th minute, punching a loose ball inside the six-yard box, though Lafayette's keeper made an outstretched kick stop to keep it scoreless.
- Kelly Harris just missed delivering a highlight-reed goal 10 minutes later as she created space by weaving in and out of a pair of defenders through the midfield. With an open look from 25 yards out, the fifth-year senior just missed arcing a strike into the upper 90.
- The Terriers dominated the first half, outshooting the Leopards 8-2 and controlled possession for the majority of the opening 45 minutes.
- Lafayette turned the table to start the second half, holding a 5-0 shot advantage through the first 15 minutes.
- Shannon Keefe broke the stalemate in the 81st minute, slotting a perfectly placed through ball from Julianna Stureman to give BU a 1-0 command.
- However, Lafayette answered just under a minute later before putting in the go-ahead score 87th minute.
- Emma Heil came on in net for the start of the second half and finished with four saves.
- Harris, Heil, Keefe, Kelly Park and Sagmoe played their final game in a Terrier uniform.
