BOSTON - The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams will host the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational on Saturday at the BU Track and Tennis Center. The men's field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. followed by the women's while the first track event will be the women's 60m hurdle prelims at 11:30 p.m. 

FRIDAY AT HARVARD

  • Competing on Friday at the Harvard Elite Meet, junior Chiebuka Onwuzurike took first in the 60m dash prelims with a time of 6.86. In the finals, Onwuzurike finished with an excleent time of 6.82, a new personal best and top time in the Patriot League.  
  • Freshman Declan Ritzenthaler had a strong performance in the pole vault, finishing fourth among collegians with a personal best vault of 4.70m (15'5").
  • On the women's side, sophomore Greer Liguori competed in the pentathlon and finished third in a field of five with 2,951 points. Liguori finished first in the 800m run with a time of 2:28.97.
  • Senior Kennedy Jones competed in the 60m hurdles prelims and finished 11th with a time of 9.12 while sophomore Bridget Chiaravalle finished 14th with a time of 9.12.
  • In the field, senior Sarah Cicchetti finished sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 16.66m (54'8") while sophomore Bridget Bishop finished 11th with a throw of 14.86m (48'9").


LAST WEEK AT JOHN THOMAS TERRIER CLASSIC

  • The Terriers competed last Friday and Saturday when they hosted the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
  • On the women's side, senior Sarah Cicchetti broke her own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 17.66 meters (57'11.25"). She set the record of 17.27m at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 1. Cicchetti finished third in the event (second among collegians) in a large field of 45 throwers.
  • Junior Leah Fowlkes finished fifth in the 500m dash with a time of 1:14.27 in a field of 44 while sophomore Emily Turner finished ninth in the same race with a time of 1:15.74, a new personal best.
  • On the men's side, freshman Marcel Aubry made his debut in the 1000 meter run and finished third among collegians with an excellent time of 2:27.14, fifth best in the Patriot League this season.
  • Sophomore Nikolas Smith took fifth among collegians in the 500m dash with a time of 1:05.21. Also

  • Following this weekend's competition, the BU track & field will host the David Hemery Invitational on Feb. 8 & 9 at the TTC.
